JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ is a dermal filler designed to reduce the appearance of the nasolabial folds and the parentheses around the mouth. After just one treatment, results can last up to 18 months.
JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ smooths moderate to severe lines and wrinkles around the mouth and nose, helping to create a more youthful appearance. The hyaluronic acid filler is injected deep into the facial tissue and temporarily adds volume in the parentheses or nasolabial folds. Results are subtle and appear very natural.
JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar found in the body, which helps to deliver nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding in water, and acts as a cushioning agent.
Who is a Candidate for JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™?
JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ is available for adults over the age of 21. Patients may not be a good candidate if they have:
- Severe allergies and a history of anaphylaxis
- Multiple severe allergies
- An allergy to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins
Where is JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ Injected?
This particular filler is typically used to smooth folds and wrinkles near the mouth and nose (or the nasolabial folds). JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ may also be injected into other areas of the face, such as perioral lines, lips, chin, jawline, and temples. These uses are off-label and the provider will assess the patient’s needs and goals to determine appropriate treatment. Using dermal filler “off-label” is a common practice and not a reason for concern.
How Does JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ Work?
The JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ gel is injected deep into the tissue helps to add support to areas with volume loss. The gel gives the treatment area a subtle smoothness and a more youthful appearance. JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ will also pull moisture to the treatment area.
Is JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ Painful?
Patients may experience some discomfort during and after the injection treatment, but pain is rare. The physician will use topical cream anesthetic in addition to the anesthetic mixed into the filler to reduce pain at the injection site. Most patients experience minimal discomfort.
During treatment, patients can expect to feel some pressure, not pain, as the gel is injected. The injected area may feel “heavy.” It is also common to hear popping and/or crunching sounds as the needle passes through the various facial tissues.
What is the Recovery Process?
After the procedure, patients should avoid strenuous exercise, sun or heat exposure (such as hot tubs or saunas), and alcoholic beverages for 24 hours.
What are the Side Effects?
Side effects are mild or moderate in nature and may include temporary injection site redness, pain or tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. Side effects typically subside within seven days.
How Long Does JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ Last?
Treatment results can last up to 18 months and are visible immediately after the procedure. The hyaluronic acid filler is naturally broken down and absorbed by the body over time. For this reason, patients will need touch-ups and repeat injections to maintain optimal correction.
