Restylane® Lyft
Restylane® Lyft is a dermal filler used to add lift to the cheeks, smooth smile lines, and add volume to the back of the hands.
The filler contains hyaluronic acid, lidocaine, and water. The combination of hyaluronic acid and water adds volume beneath the skin, helping to create a plumping effect and temporarily smoothing out wrinkles in the target area. Patients will need to undergo follow-up treatments to help maintain these effects.
The addition of lidocaine, an anesthetic, helps to minimize pain and discomfort during the procedure. This can also help save time, since patients won’t need to wait for a separate pain reliever to take effect before each treatment.
Who is a Candidate?
During an initial consultation, the physician will ask the patient questions about their medical history and any allergies they may have. Patients will also need to mention any vitamins or supplements they are taking to ensure they don’t interfere with the injections. Depending on this information, the physician will determine whether the patient is a candidate for Restylane® Lyft.
Restylane® Lyft is not recommend for patients who:
- Have a history of bleeding disorders
- Have inflammatory skin conditions, such as eczema and acne
- Have allergies to lidocaine
- Smoke
How to Prepare for the Procedure
Before the procedure, patients should avoid smoking or drinking alcohol. The physician may also ask the patient to stop taking medications that increase the risk of bleeding, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or blood thinners. Patients will need to tell their doctor about any vitamins or herbs they are taking to ensure there are no contraindications.
Prior to Restylane® Lyft, patients should avoid undergoing any aesthetic procedures, such as chemical peels and exfoliants, as they may cause scarring.
What to Expect During the Procedure
Patients should arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. They will need to fill out medical history paperwork and consent forms before the procedure can begin.
Once the patient is in the treatment room, the physician will clean the treatment area and perform the injections using a fine-needle syringe. The entire procedure will only take a few minutes and patients shouldn’t feel any pain. Patients receiving multiple types of injections may require up to one hour.
